From International conferences, medical meetings, corporate events and specialised incentive and custom travel, Go West has worked with numerous multinationals, academics and conference ambassadors over the years.
2015 and 2016 has been no different and Go West has and continues to manage world class conferences and events. The already famous Food on the Edge event which started last October is up for best Conference award and is also set to take place again this coming October. Food on the Edge (FOTE) saw the world’s best chefs descend on Galway for a 2 day conference to discuss the future of food. Voted Food event of the year 2015 by John & Sally McKenna, the conference saw over 40 countries represented bringing flavours and points of view from Australia, Hong Kong, USA, UK, France, Italy and South America for example. Collectively there were over 50 Michelin stars between the chefs and guest speakers and the event has been used as a showcase food event for Fáilte Ireland. The event in 2015 and successive planned events in 2016 and beyond formed an integral part of the bid to have Galway designated as European Region of Gastronomy designation for 2018. The conference director is Jp McMahon who is an award winning chef, Connacht Local food hero 2015, Michelin star chef of Aniar and owner of successful Spanish tapas bar Cava and Eat Gastropub in Galway city.
Another successful conference was the sold out dotMED creative medical conference which is headed up by Galway natives and Consultant Rheumatologists Dr. Ronan Kavanagh & Dr. Muiris Houston. The conference is in its fourth year now and continues to grow and develop into a highlight on the medical conference calendar. dotMED is a celebration of the future and the heart of medicine and took place in the Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin last February. This one day medical and creative conference had a range of speakers and included exhibition elements, a dragons den style medical start up pitching session, panel discussions, artist showcases and a musical programme. The programme saw a diverse range of topics discussed from basketball, bingo, burnout, cartoons and twitter all making the agenda for the day.
Go West continue to work in conjunction with a variety of Fáilte Ireland Conference Ambassadors including Prof. John Carey with the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) where over 300 international delegates descended on NUIG for a weeklong conference in early June. Also coming down the track is the Joint International Conference on the Environment with Ambassador Prof. Chaosheng Zhang where an expected number of 400 international delegates will attend.
