International Society for Clinical Densitomtery Conference took place in NUI Galway this June.  It was the largest gathering of thought leaders in the field of bone densitometry and it brought over €420,000 to the local Galway economy

Go West were delighted to manage the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) Annual Meeting which took place in NUI Galway from June 1-4, 2016. ISCD is the only international professional organisation dedicated to solely promoting and educating excellence in skeletal health assessment, and has thousands of members from countries all over the world.

The Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of ISCD, Peter Brown visited Galway in advance of the Conference.  Peter met with us as conference organisers to finalise all the arrangements in NUI Galway and Galway City as a whole.  “It’s extremely important that conferences and events like ISCD come to Galway and experience our world class facilities and cultural experiences on offer.  Galway’s local economy benefits greatly from international visitors and we are proud to look after them while they are here in Ireland” says Kerry O’Sullivan, director of Go West Conference, Events & Destination Management Company based in Galway.

Over 300 delegates traveled from around the world to attend the Annual meeting of ISCD and the first time it has been held outside of the USA.  Commenting on the  conference, Fáilte Ireland Ambassador and Consultant Rheumatologist & General Physician, Prof. John Carey said “It’s an exciting time for Galway and Ireland to host a world class conference in the heart of the city.  The educational programme and invited speakers drew inspiration and learning for my colleagues in Ireland and Europe, as well as around the world.  Attendees learned about quality musculoskeletal health assessment and why quality matters.”


ISCD Conference in NUI Galway

This was a unique opportunity for consultants, GPs, trainees, nurses, radiographers and other health professionals to: Present research on a world stage, Meet and learn from global leaders in the field, Participate in hands on laboratory sessions with DXA software demonstrations, Complete all ISCD accredited courses in Bone densitometry and Learn about best use of DXA, X-ray, CT and US technologies.

Programme Information: the programme content had applications for many different diseases: Osteoporosis & Bone Disorders, Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiovascular Disease and Sports Medicine.

The conference was fully accredited for medical professionals through CME.
