The Titanic Experience has a purpose built centre housing some nine galleries, with multiple dimensions to the exhibition, drawing together special effects, dark rides, full-scale reconstructions and innovative interactive features to explore the Titanic story in a fresh and insightful way. Explore the shipyard, travel to the depths of the ocean and uncover the true legend of Titanic, in the city where it all began.
31st May 1911; the launching of Titanic was a momentous occasion, with an estimated 100,000 people (one third of the city’s population) turning out to watch.
As the visitor exits the Shipyard Ride, they will be faced with an impressive sight: a large window looking straight down the actual slipways on which both the Titanic and Olympic once rested. The Launch Gallery recalls the excitement of the dramatic 62 seconds it took to launch Titanic at 12.13pm on 31st May, 1911. A recreation of a Harland and Wolff map offers a unique vision of how the ship would have appeared sitting on the slipway and the surrounding area, giving the visitor an intense and authentic perspective that cannot be matched elsewhere.
