Day 1 – Shannon

Arrive at Shannon Airport and transfer to Dromoland Castle by chauffeur private driver/guide. The rest of the day is free to rest after your flight and enjoy all the facilities at Dromoland. In the evening enjoy dinner in the Earl of Thomond Restaurant.

Day 2 – Ashford Castle

Travel from Dromoland to Ashford via the City of the Tribes of Galway.  Travel to Ashford Castle in the village of Cong in Mayo.  Available activities include golf, fishing, horse riding, archery, clay pigeon shooting, falconry or a cruise on the lake. For lunch and dinner there are various dining options at Ashford and in the nearby village of Cong.

Day 3 – Magic of Connemara

A vacation to Ireland would not be complete without making a visit to Connemara.

Our Driver/Guide will take us through Connemara, one of Europe’s last great natural wildernesses with towns and villages existing along a beautiful, indented coastline. While driving we will have the Maumturk Mountains to our right side before seeing the magnificent Glencoaghan horseshoe part of the twelve Bens mountain range, one of Ireland’s famous hiking routes.

We make our way through the wonderful Inagh Valley, one of the most beautiful parts of Connemara where we will stop to take in the breath-taking views with some photos. Our next stop will take you on to the magical Kylemore Abbey, the only Irish home of the Benedictine Nuns.  Built originally as a Castle (1868) it is one of the best examples of Irish neo-gothic architecture.  The estate features include a Victorian Walled Garden, restored Abbey, Reception rooms, Gothic Church, tranquil walks, craft shop, pottery, and restaurant.

After lunch we will make our way to ‘Killary Fjord’, Ireland’s only fjord. Marvel at all the mussel beds in the fjord as you look at Mweelrea, the highest mountain on the west coast of Ireland. You will not be disappointed with this natural wonder of the world.   On route back to Galway we will stop at a farm where a local farmer will entertain us by giving a skilled sheepdog demonstration.   We will continue our journey along the Connemara Coast road and we will stop in Tigh Hughes Pub in Spiddal village to hear some music by the local musicians before returning to our castle hotel.  The rest of the evening is at our leisure.

Day 4 – Hills of Donegal & Lough Eske Castle

Travel north to Donegal, en route visit the historic Foxford Woollen Mills.  One of the last working mills in Ireland, Foxford was founded by an Irish Sister of Charity in 1892 and overcame many challenges over the years, in order to survive.  Today, it is a thriving mill with master craftspeople creating beautiful pieces for sale in Foxford’s four stores around Ireland, and in stores all over the world. Day 5 – Castle Leslie Estate

Today we depart Donegal for Monaghan and the famous Castle Leslie Estate

Nestled on 1,000 acres of undulating Irish countryside, dotted with ancient woodlands and glittering lakes, Castle Leslie Estate is one of the last great Irish estates still in the hands of its founding family. The Leslie Family arrived in Ireland in the 16th Century and bought the Estate at that time. Today, this castle hotel in Ireland is led and managed by Sammy Leslie and governed by a Family Trust. Today we travel towards Dublin and Overnight in Carton House Hotel

Day 7 – Dublin City Tour & Merrion Hotel

On arrival to Dublin we will visit Guinness Storehouse originally built in 1904 to house the Guinness fermentation process.  The core of the Guinness Storehouse building is modeled on a giant pint glass, stretching up from reception on the ground floor to the Gravity Bar in the sky.  If filled, this giant pint would hold approximately 14.3 million pints of Guinness.  At Guinness Storehouse you’ll discover all there is know about the world famous beer.

We will continue to Dublin city centre to the Merrion Hotel, we will enjoy a free afternoon in Dublin at your leisure.
